The return to Toronto for James Reimer did not go as expected, letting in 3 goals in the 1st period alone and 6 on the night, the Panthers were off to a bad start. Hard work payed off in this game as Connor Brown hustled his way to getting 2 G and 1A on the night. The Kadri line was tonight’s “best” line leading the way in both ends of the ice! Playing the majority of minutes against the Jagr line and everyone getting in on the scoring.

The Panthers had a mediocre game to say the least, taking bad penalties including a double minor by Ekblad 2 for interference and 2 for chirping the refs. Not the type of penalties to take when your team is down by multiple goals. He ended up with 6 PIMs on the night.

Not to be outdone the “magic man” Mitch Marner had another highlight reel play scoring on a breakaway while being covered by a Panthers defenseman all the way from the blueline. To make the play even better he undressed James Reimer with the defenseman still riding his back at the same time. No one can tell Marner that he’s too small to play in this league as he has dominated almost every single game he has played in! Such a BEAST.

Another solid game for Freddie Anderson, hopefully these good games dont get blown over by the Leafs media and are acknowledged. Anderson has come a long way since the start of the season and deserves the recognition! He held the Leafs team in this game in the few instances where they couldn’t clear the zone for 2 plus minutes. I will say it again and again Anderson is the goalie the Leafs have been looking for.

I don’t think you can have any more bad luck than Auston Matthews, this kid gets chance after chance and has so many near misses. These are shots that he would normally put in with ease. I CAN’T wait to see him once hes out of his slump. If he converted on half the times he had a good scoring chance you could add 10 points easy to his totals. This Leafs team will be so good offensively!

Overall this was a very good game by the Leafs, every one was hustling, playing hard and decent defensively. It showed with a 6-1 win, the Leafs are now on a 2 game win streak and take on the Habs in Montreal on Saturday night. Let me know what you thought about Thursday nights game!!
