Saturday night the Toronto Maple Leafs take on Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens, the Habs come into a 2nd game of a back to back Saturday after a loss Friday night to the Hurricanes. Expect Price to be stellar once again and hold the Habs in this game if things start to go bad. The previous meeting between these two teams ended in a 2-1 victory for the Canadiens which they were outplayed the majority of the game by the Leafs young rookie filled roster. I don’t expect that to be the case tonight, even on back to back games the Habs are still dangerous and the Leafs will need to be on top of their game to win.

Take a look at some pre game stats for this game below, what I take from this is similar goals for per game and shots against per game. The shots against is surprising to me since MTL is #1 in the league… Keep an eye on that. Take a look at MTL’s shot differential per game, they are giving up over 4 more shots a game then they are getting on net which is also surprising given their stature at the top of the league. Those stats alone show its goaltending holding them in games. You can argue that their goals for is better then their goals against, But in their 2 regulation losses this season their offence didn’t score more than 2 goals in those games. On paper the Canadiens are the better team no doubt about it, but I am seeing some trends starting to emerge with this team and I look forward to teams exploiting that flaw. Montreal fans better be praying to the Hockey gods that Weber and Price stay healthy.

On the flip side look at that Leafs away winning percentage…. TERRIBLE. They have to be better on the road to be successful and not just win on home ice.

Keys to the game:

Will Price be stellar again and win the goaltending matchup?

Which offence will be able to find the back of the net?

Which Leafs rookies will take over this game?

Can one of the teams defence core hold the opposing team to under 30 shots?

The Leafs are on a hot streak right now and flying high, I don’t expect them to slow down and tonight is the night that Matthews scores. Expect a big game from the young lad as he has been very good the last few games but just isn’t finding the net! Leafs win 3-2 tonight!
